JC/Joey snippet

It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, and for some reason, Joey wasn't answering his door.
JC knocked again, waited, and then gave up and came in. He could hear Brianna somewhere, but he couldn't see her. He found Joey in the kitchen, wearing earplugs, and JC walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder Joey startled and turned around.
"Oh! C!"
"Joey, what are you *doing*?"
Joey grinned and held up a finger. "Wait for it...wait for it..."
Brianna staggered into sight, scooting around on her rollerchair, loudly singing "NO! NO! NO! NO!"
JC cracked up. Joey grinned. "Yeah, I'm thinking she's hit the "No" stage."
"You think?" JC managed, as Brianna made her blithe way across the kitchen floor and back out into the living room. He waited until she was gone, then leaned over and kissed Joey lightly. "Poor daddy," he says.
"Yeah," Joey says, and looked utterly content.
